Christian Missionaries Europe:
Tracy and Brenda Lesan perform "Illusions
to Explain the Gospel" with a sketch
board message of Salvation in Slovakia.
|
Slovakia
Tracy and Brenda Lesan and their children
who live in Bratislava, Slovakia perform
illusions using such props as a sketch
board
to present the Gospel message of Salvation.
This method allows the Gospel to be
presented
in a non-threatening manner which is
especially
important in countries such as Slovakia
where
people are very reserved as a culture.
These
activities take place on street corners,
youth meetings, rallies, and other
public
forums. Another vital part of Tracy
and Brenda's
ministry is providing counseling to
unbelievers
who are struggling and encouragement
to young
believers as they begin to apply Biblical
teaching to their daily life.

ELIZABETH UPDATE
Over the last 3-4 weeks we've spent around 20 hours in
waiting rooms and
doctors offices for multiple examinations and tests in several different
clinics in Slovakia and
Austria to try to find out what could be causing Elizabeth's
frequent high fevers and extremely low--off the charts--weight gain over
the past 8+ months. We've also consulted with doctors in the US.
So far all the test results have come back negative, but we're still
concerned. Thankfully, so far this month she's been doing better, so
she's maybe turned a corner. PLEASE KEEP PRAYING with us for complete
healing.
FOOT-TIED
This past Sunday evening Brenda fell and injured her ankle really
badly. It was major drama just deciding what to do. Do we get a
babysitter to come at
10pm or leave Jacob in charge? Do we go to the emergency room in
Hainburg, Austria or
Bratislava? Do we wait until morning? Two phone calls, one to
each of the emergency rooms, provided the answers. The Bratislava
emergency room wouldn't provide the right kind of treatment, and the
Hainburg one didn't want to take us then because the paydesk was closed.
So we decided to go to Hainburg in the morning. Then in the morning on
the way
to Hainburg there was a horrible traffic jam because half of the
interstate was shut down. So we went back home, and I spent an hour
looking in the phone book and on the internet and making phone calls to
various clinics and hospitals around Bratislava, each of which kept
telling me to go to somebody else.
Finally a perturbed nurse at one of the clinics very unwillingly gave me
the
phone number for a surgeon who wasn't listed in the phone book. Thankfully, this surgeon was not on vacation like the other half of
Bratislava, and he was also very pleasant and helpful. He worked us into
his
already full schedule for the day, and because his is a private practice
it
wasn't a problem for us to pay in cash--except that they'd just received
a
new accounting system with new European Union regulations, and his nurse
who
normally handles it was gone, and it took him half an hour and a phone
call
to tech support just to figure out how to have the computer issue our
bill.
He said that Brenda had most likely just a pulled ligament. He sold us
an
ankle brace, gave us a prescription for crutches which we also bought,
and
prescribed 7-10 days of rest. Once again (same song, 10th verse) the
kids
did a good job of reading and staying quiet and taking care of each
other in
the waiting area while we were with the doctor. We're grateful for how
God
led us to him.
Now three days later Brenda's still in a lot of pain. It's extremely
difficult for her to not do too much because each day there's so much to
do,
but she is at least resting some. The kids are doing a good job of
pitching
in extra to help. PRAY for a quick and full recovery.
CHURCH BRIEFS:
* HENRIETA has had some major decisions to make this summer regarding her employment and living situation. She was considering attending Word of Life's Bible institute in
Hungary for a year
but for financial reasons has decided to stay in Bratislava. The Lord has just provided a new apartment for her to rent and a part-time job to make up for the loss of half of her teaching load at the Hungarian high school next school year.
* LUCIA is still growing in her faith while ANDREJ remains as hard as ever. With no advance warning last week he removed her from their bank account, so now she's dependent on whatever money he chooses to give her for the two boys and on the small stipend from
the government for mother's leave. PRAY that she would be strong in the Lord and that Andrej would turn to the Lord and turn back to Lucia.
In Christ,
Tracy, for Brenda too
